Who We Are
At The Teen Specialist, we are committed to supporting young people, families, and schools. Our mission is to provide holistic solutions that address challenges in education, reduce school exclusions, and help young individuals flourish.
Led by Ruth King, who has over 15 years of experience working in education, systemic family therapy, and community settings, we work tirelessly to ensure every young person has the opportunity to lead a bright and fruitful life.

Our school consultancy service dives deep into the root causes of disengagement, limited involvement, and risks of permanent exclusion. We aim to:
- Identify young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
- Develop tailored plans to holistically support both the school and the young person.
- Foster better relationships between schools and families to improve educational outcomes.

Educational Advocacy is a service designed to support parents, children, and young people who face challenges within their educational journey. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives the education they are entitled to, and every family’s voice is heard and respected.

Training and workshops for parents/carers.
We offer different group training programmes and workshops throughout the year. The following programs below happen consistently throughout the year. These are our 1-1 programs that
Into It Group Program.
Our ‘Into it’ program focuses on specific challenges you are having with your child with education. You may find your child does not like doing homework or your child is no longer participating in their favourite lesson or extracurricular activity. This looks at signs and warning signs to know when your child is becoming disengaged with education and steps to overcome this before reaching a crisis point. We also explore external factors that may be impacting your child’s education.
Part of this program asks for accountability from parents, it is a program that not only encourages and gives warning signs but also a program that asks for parents to take accountability on some of the issues that their child is experiencing.
We parent Program
This is a 1-1 service specifically for parents who have not had a positive relationship with education themselves and are now seeing this reflecting in their child’s education and life . This course looks at your approach to education and how to break those patterns in your child’s life and education. In this program we work with you individually to explore the patterns and routes and looking at how to break them off your childs life.

- Bullying: Providing assistance to protect children facing bullying.
- Admissions: Helping families resolve admission-related challenges.

- Meeting Attendance: Accompanying and advising parents in crucial school meetings.
